He is very adept at oil and can render fully realistic portraits and scenes. But he is just as capable at line drawing and highly stylized illustrations that feel loose and simple.
Hatch’s work looks like oil pastels with their scribbled fills that overlap and blend with smudginess that is reminiscent of sketching, but taken to a higher level of intensity. I truly appreciate the hand-drawn look of her work.
I relate to her in the way she is very focused on nature and on slice-of-life subject matter in contrast to many others who focus on existing IP or fantasy themes.
